1. What is your connection to Somerville?
I've been a Somerville resident for 30 plus years. I have two kids in Somerville public schools, and many longstanding friendships with local community members.
2. How did or does living in Somerville influence your writing? Or, what does it mean to write from this place?
Somerville is my home, and home is what replenishes me as a writer. Somerville is a diverse, accessible and enjoyable place which brings me peace and joy, and influences my writing for the better.
3. What do other/aspiring Somerville writers need to know?
Follow your instincts and write about what moves you the most. Whether that's something amazing like a breathtaking view, or something upsetting, like a contentious conversation or relationship. Then find a routine that keeps you writing - whether that's scribbling morning pages upon waking up, or going to the cafe with your laptop at certain times of the week. Just keep writing.
