1. What is your connection to Somerville?
I have lived in Somerville since 1984.
2. How did or does living in Somerville influence your writing? Or, what does it mean to write from this place?
With Invisible Cities Group, I have created original performance/installations about Somerville neighborhoods. As a writer of poetry and short stories, many are inspired by my experiences in the Ville.
3. What do other/aspiring Somerville writers need to know?
Somerville is lively, dense, with a weird history (aka Millers River and Fluff) and more artists per square mile than anywhere. You will feel right at home. Davis Square with its twinkly lights at dusk is like Stars Hollow in the Gilmore Girls. So there is always lots going on to spark ideas, PLUS so many cool bars and cafes in which to write and watch the human procession file by. Just know that everything in Somerville has been written about at least once if not twice, but not from your perch.
